Show demo using cards
Students practice pronunciation with teacher through repetition. Then the teacher does a demo.
【展開3】Animal Karuta
Animal Karuta Game for pairs
Distribute cards, show demo
Students practice “I like elephants” and so on. Teacher starts with telling students what animal he likes and then filling in 5 animals in the thinking tool. Students then fill in their own thinking tools. Then the teacher asks students if they like the 5 animals he chose. They may say yes and repeat “I like elephants” and so on. Then the teacher starts Karuta by calling an animal using the I like sentence. Cards are spread around the table so students slap the animal and collect the card. Students take turns telling the class what animal they like, and everyone slaps that card on the table.

Play one last round of Karuta, with students making a stack in the order called by the teacher
Teacher says, “I like bears” and the fastest student grabs the card, repeats, and puts it in the stack in the middle of the table.
